HIPPIELUVN'S HALLOWEEN HORRORTHON 2009

Post by hippieluvn » Sun Aug 09, 2009 9:00 pm

Since I'll be in grad school and student-teaching during October — when I usually conduct my annual Halloween Horrorthon of movies, documentaries, and other Halloween-themed programming — I'd decided to begin my Halloween programming a bit earlier this year. I was going to wait until Mid-September or so; however, with RZ's H2 coming out in just a few weeks, and after seeing Halloween II & III being aired on HBO today, I decided to begin my countdown to the big day TONIGHT

And so, in preparation for RZ's H2, I'm beginning my 2009 Halloween Horrorthon with his House of 1000 Corpses!!! :D

I'll keep you all updated this year, posting the movies/programs that I plan to watch before I actually watch them, making this a somewhat interactive endeavor!!! :D

That's right, boys and girls — it's that time of year again, so let the madness begin!!!

Not to rain on your parade or anything, but I actually hated that movie.
Not because I don't enjoy a good blood and gore fest like the rest of us, but I think it's because I felt sorry for the teenagers, none of them survived, and that blond chick was so annoying; I really wished she would've been slaughtered and ripped apart limb by limb. Y'know, I think she was the one with the cowboy hat.
Though I disgress, I enjoyed the sequal, and I think it's because I thoroughly enjoyed the one girl's father being a cop if I remember correctly, claiming vengence for his daughter's death and brutally murdering the insane serial killer family the same way they have done to others. The sequal was called Hell's rejects.
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

That's great, hippie! :D

I do like Rob Zombie flicks! I do also like both Sid Haig and Bill Moseley characters in The Devil's Rejects. Of course, I love Sid as Captain Spaulding in House Of 1000 Corpses.

Well, can't wait to see RZ's H2 that will come out in two weeks! Yaay!

i've never seen devil's rejects, so i figured i'd watch 1000 corpses followed by devil's and rz's halloween before his h2 comes out at the end of the month

definitely not my favs... but ok, imho 8)

instead of posting what i plan to watch in one annual post, i will use this thread as a way to document my 2009 horrorthon as it unfolds, and discuss individual films/programs with you all as i watch them :D

it's far from being my favorite horror flick; however, i thought it might be a great way to begin my annual halloween horrorthon for a few reasons: 1) of course, it's set at halloween; 2) it's a rob zombie horror flick, so watching this again gives me a good excuse to rent his devil's rejects (which i haven't seen yet) and to watch his halloween before halloween II comes out later this month... see my twisted logic yet?

that's rob zombie's wife, sheri moon zombie

like i said, i haven't seen it yet, so please don't give away too much... thanks

ok, i started watching it last night and finished tonight  this movie weirded me out the first time i saw it, but doesn't have the same effect now  now i realize that it's a horror movie for stoners, written and directed by a stoner  still freaky and weird though :cyclops: i always get confused whenever they lower the kids into that pit at the end :? all of a sudden it goes from a weird reality into a supernatural realm of the unimaginable :?: any plausible explanations or is this where the drugs are really supposed to kick in?

on hippieluvn's horror movie scale of 1-10  i give it a 5

ok, i watched it this evening  interesting, thought-provoking social commentary from the artistic mind of rob zombie  unlike his house of 1000 corpses, however, i wouldn't categorize it as a horror movie  it was more like a deliverance does the texas chainsaw massacre does thelma & louise hybrid  definitely not a movie that i plan to watch again in conjunction with my annual halloween horrorthon :!:

Wow! Cool!

Me personally, I do prefer "House Of 1000 Corpses" the better than "The Devil's Rejects". ;) Of course, I still do like Zombie's Halloween remake.... really can't wait to see his newest upcoming second part remake of Halloween 2! 8)

sweet!! cool thread!! BTW i loved both house of 1000 corpses (great title) and devil's rejects :)

the village, as a movie wouldn't win any award as i don't think it did, did keep me entertained and i liked it :) its something that doesn't require much thinking so that allows your mind to just relax and enjoy
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

I really do like RZ's movies BUT does he have to have his wife in ALL of them? I saw that she is going to be in Halloween 2 and I don't like that, she doesn't belong in that movie! ARGGGGHHHHH! She is a good actress but I just don't like that annoying voice she has in the movies.
