Amen brother.
After 3 days of 'summer' I am finished wishing for warm weather. It's been back down to 50's at night and upper 60's during the daytime.
The day we reached 111 degrees was the day I was over summer.

We had a scorcher of a summer, very high humidity along with high-90s temps for weeks on end. This past week has been much better, though. I believe the summer has "broken," that we won't get back up there again.
I was very startled to notice that a few trees & bushes, including some on my own property, have started to turn red and orange. That never happens here as early as August. We are used to seeing autumnal colors in mid-October. Sometimes they come as late as November. We've had so much rain this year, though. Not only Nashville, but all of middle TN, pretty much drowned the first weekend of May. We actually surpassed the average annual rainfall mark a couple of weeks ago. Wet summers make beautiful falls.

I went to the coast this morning and the maple trees all along the highway are jaw-dropingly gorgeous!
Also, I pulled over for a close-up of some maturing pumpkins. It's time to think about sharpening the ol' carving knives.

This is me after seeing that picture. It made me unreasonably happy.

I just mowed over my dead pumpkin patch yesterday.

A victim of the summer drought.....

Well, well, well... pumpkin seeds are no good to plant here in VA!

Goddammit!

My condolences.
On a happy note, this year is the 40th annual Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival. If I can bring myself to weather the crowds and parking I will go.

Y'all would go nuts around here this time of the year. The pumpkin photo was taken at one of the hundreds of pumpkin farms found all up and down the coast. Something about the coastal fog and bright fog-filtered sunshine works magic on future JOL's.

Real, real freaking soon.... summer will be gone.... But, it's still hot azz season here in Va Beach area!

We won't see autumn thing 'til the end of Thanksgiving! Only cold weather seasons (December, January, February, and little earlier March) here.

Naww, it depends on where you are in VA. I lived there for several years in Staunton (Shenandoah Valley). We used to have gorgeous falls in October, and snow before Thanksgiving sometimes. Halloween was very big in Staunton, too. Lots of fun.

we're getting hit by Tropical Storm Hermine, I didnt even know there was one on the way, apparently it came up suddenly. I was at the beach in Galveston yesterday and it was windy and good, choppy sea but nothing to suggest a major storm, now that same area is on flood watch and we're expected to get a foot of rain in the next 24hrs....weird!
