I think most of it is luck Murf. ^^; I never had this much luck with pumpkins and the rest of my garden is pretty much weeds. Weeds and vines. But I did get more gourds than I thought as well and I'm looking forward to drying them out and turning them into pretty bird houses. :) So I think it's all in the soil and getting the right balance of sunlight and rain. We shall see. I'm hoping to save the seeds though if I can figure out how to store them.

Sounds like it's a trial and error thing Nevermore!

Careful. If this El Niño turns out to be what they think it is, we're gonna get a lot of rain in a very short time. California will probably wash into the ocean.

I hope you don't think any of us is a hater!

I have family in southern CA, as I've said repeatedly. I love it out there and am always sorry when I hear of their woes, whether they be weather-related or politically-related.

If that should happen.....

Try and save all the porn girls in the San Fernando valley. You can send them to me and I can help get them back off their feet.

Well guys, guess it's time to start building an Ark!

In other news, I think I'm still getting more pumpkins coming in yet! I wish this one had turned out though. It was almost a red color, but evidently something ate it! I looked at the bottom of it and it looked like a huge bite mark was in it. Hope it wasn't a bear...

I wonder if I can salvage the seeds somehow.

I saved the seeds from last year's pumpkins and they sprouted fine this year. If you google howto it will give you some good pointers. Basically, clean them, dry them, store in paper bags in a cool dry place. Of the eleven sprouts I put in the ground only two are really taking off, but that probably has more to do with the water and soil conditions than quality of the seeds.

Still, to be on the safe side let me have them, because I'll make sure they stay in shape for future roles.

I'm good like that.

Oh no! Some of my pumpkins either got plagued by bugs or blighted! I might only have half of my estimated pumpkins now. Shucks!

Well I still have plenty of minis...but still I'm kind of bummed out now....

Are you talking about the ones in your garden, or the ones you have decorated for sale? I hope you haven't lost any that you planned to sell.

I find that gardening is full of problems like this. Ahead of time, you always imagine the luscious produce, but in the event, you are often fighting insects and hungry critters.

I really like your avatar, BTW.

The ones in the garden. But I managed to salvage some by picking them prematurely. I hope it doesn't mean they'll rot before Halloween; but ti's the first day of September already so I hope they'll be ok. (Holy Smokes! I can't believe the time flew!) I promised a pumpkin to a few people including the neighbor's two little boys. I'm keeping the white ones and my boyfriend picked one out that he wanted. We'll still each get a pumpkin it looks like...but they'll be tiny and hardly the plethora of produce I thought they would be. Still these vines are still producing flowers...I don't think they've given up yet. But they might only be male flowers. There's still a couple in the garden yet, and more minis to come. Hopefully they turn out. Hopefully.

The ones I have for sale should be fine...hopefully. :) Right now I'm only selling the minis.

Thanks for the compliments on the new avatar! I think it has a good Halloween feel to it, since weres and black cats are Halloween related. And she's basically a wereblackcat. lol

If you have a basement put them in there or if not, a closet on the shadiest side of your house.
