You're right about it not around as much as it used to be.
I don't know why...if you look at vintage Halloween cartoons..Betty Boop's Halloween Party for instance, there he is, the owl, just like you said.
Back in the cardbaord decoration days of the 60's, it was a pretty popular item, framed against the moon.
But it made it back to Harry Potter, and might make another come back with more and more retro decorations being re-issued..

Oh yes certainly is - however I do know what you mean as far as the retail stores not carrying a whole lot of owl items. However, go to Halmarks this year and a fiber optic owl sits on a pumpkin!!! Too cute

Thats why you have to try and catch them. Kidding of course.
