I thought what I would do is take some pictures of actual gravestones and then get some old plywood and cut the shapes and design them using hand tools...it will be harder and more time consuming but more satisfying I believe.

If you want to go the styrofoam route go to Home Depot or any home builders type store and they sell sheets of styrofoam and then you can paint them as you like.

oh ok cool thanks.. i've always made mine out of wood so i've never even looked for styro foam before :? what do you use to cut it with?

Midnite that sounds very cool, I think going & taking pics of real tombstone is a great idea!!!

You can use a handsaw with a fine blade. That will cut the shape out no problem. Or if you had a jig saw as well.

As long as the ghosts don't mind ;) I just thought this would be a fun project and not cost too much and will look more authentic and more durable year after year as well.

Well...speaking as a guy and most likely for Spooky and Adrian...we'd be happier if you gals wore them hee hee LOL. Now, like I said Tequila or Whisky can make a guy do some strange things but I have yet to find myself in a french maid's costume...yet.
