But drinking is part of youth! I've had sips here and there of different stuff but never been drunk. I'm lame.

I've been know to do a few too many jello shots at past Halloween parties. I went and bought a couple cases of that Pumpkinhead beer. Trying to resist the urge to drink it all at once.

As a cop I have to always add. If you drink, stay where you are for the night or have a designated driver who has not been drinking to take the drinkers home. Don't drink and drive guys. We WILL be out on Halloween I promise. We always are!

Good advise. I always get a ride home or stay overnight. When on my own, I only go to bars that are within walking distance of my house or the trolley. Otherwise I stay home and drink alone (cue the George Thorogood here). I have a couple friends that have gotten DUIs recently and are totally regretting it. They got off lucky, they didn't kill someone.

I don't really associate alcoholic drinks with Halloween, but if I were to pick one for that holiday, it would have to be a fall cider of some sort. There are so many on the market that it's hard to choose.

Excellent post and thank you. also thank you for putting your life at risk serving society. I think you are the perfect person to post a Halloween safety thread, from the fingertips of a police officer. Bonus-Self defense tips.

As for my drink, it will always have Vodka in it. I'm a Vodka man.

I like Irish Whisky once in a while, but I never drink on Halloween, becasue I don't want to be inpaired when I go for my Midnight Halloween Motorcycle Ride. Besides, since my gastric bypass, it takes very little to get me as drunk as a skunk.

I don't drink, but one year when I did a tavern theme for my Halloween party I served several different pumpkin ales. As I recollect, Ichabod went over well and so did Saranac. I also served one called Pumpking, but nobody seemed to like that one.

I would still love to try something of an alcoholic beverage made from pumpkin, but again, with my tiny stomach, alcohol gets absorbed into my system very quickly, and if I drink anything too sweet, I get one very NASTY hang over. I'm afraid my partaking of the pleasure of a drink can only be once or twice a year. Halloween is also no ocassion for me to drink, as I like to light off smoke bombs, my neighbors brind their kids over for ToT, my nephew brings his little ones ofer for ToT and a weenie roast, and if it's not actualy raining, regardless of out door temperature, I like to go for my Midnight Halloween Motorcycle Ride. VenHelsing makes a very good point about drinking and driving, too. I've almost come to serious grief on quite a few ocassions becaust the idiot in the car next to me had a few too many, and decided to drive his car. I don't even drive anyplace on New Years Eve, and the only place I drive to on Halloween is the Grotto on my motorcycle and I take in some of the Halloween "spookies" while on the road.

Here's an idea. Pour some root beer with small part Vodka into a Glass and stir, then add one ot two scoops of Pumpkin Ice Cream. Then you will have created the Jack O Lantern rootbeer float.

I've mixed the whipped cream flavor
with root beer and orange soda. It
tastes just like a root beer float and
cream soda. Haven't seen this one
in the stores yet, but i'm looking!

I think our grocery store actualy has Pumpkin Flavored Ice Cream, but I'll most likely make my jack o'lantern float with out the Vodka, because again, on Halloween I like to light off smoke bombs, I entertain my young grand nieces and nephews as well as give out ToT candy to my neighbors kids, and I drive my motorcycle at the "Witching Hour," so I avoid drink on Halloween. But the jack o'lantern float is definately doable.
